6th Day: Atlas Studios of Ouarzazate - "Hollywood"

Updated: Feb 4

Good Morning! Back to Agadir today.

Check out

Today we go to the Atlas studios with a guided tour. We paid 50dh per person. A really great price.

Atlas Studios

The backdrops were very beautiful and lovingly detailed and our guide took some good pictures of us.

You feel very different here because everything seems so real.

The Egyptian temple -> Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra & the Mummy was filmed here, among many others.

Egyptian Temple Gate

Movieset of the Popess.

The right staircase is from the movie The Passion of Christ and a few light props to touch.

These backdrops were an asset to many films...Moses, Gladiator or the Gardens of Eden.

Temple of Kundun

There is a small museum in the Tibetan temple. A couple of films that were shot here in the studios.

Kundun Movieset

This prop was for the movie Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra.

Behind the scenes...

The slingshots are from Kingdom of Heaven and the chariot from Ben Hur and Gladiator.

Behind the viking boat you can see the F-16 Falcon from the Jewel of the Nile.

A medieval castle and film set from Game of Thrones, among others. This was conquered by Daenerys Targaryen.

There is so much to see and learn...you can spend the whole day here and we will definitely go back with a little more time.

The tour lasted about 2 hours and our guide was really very cool, with lots of information and a final wise sentence: Enjoy your life, it don't mind!

Of course we drove back the route N9, because I wanted to look for scorpions at one point.

In the mountains you quickly noticed the temperature difference of 15°.

A lot happened on a ruin.

Agama / Scorpions

A little more forest and hard to see but finally found.

Praying Mantis

In the evening we sat in the Bollywood restaurant, which is right on the beach of Agadir.

The Indian food was delicious in a relaxed atmosphere.
