So yes, Cornelius was in Petra yesterday because I had stomach problems, and today I'm going alone. I had enough sleep and left at 5 a.m.
Sunrise
I haven't researched Petra beforehand. I only know about The Treasury from the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and I'll let myself be surprised.
After a 2-hour drive and the Entry with the Jordan Pass...
Main Trail / The Siq
To be honest, I wasn't prepared for such a beautiful path and was absolutely fascinated by everything of the Nabatean Kingdom. A lovely atmosphere. I was there very early and completely alone. The air was slightly humid, slightly cool, and with a light rain coming through.
The walk takes a few minutes, but then, between the rocks, you finally see the breathtaking...
Al Khazneh - The Treasury
Petra is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
So lets walk on...
I took a random trail up Street of Facades and was curious to see where it would lead me and after a good stretch uphill I came to a plateau and looked around a bit.
Screwin stones...
Leiurus hebraeus / Lizard
A very beautiful place.
Too beautiful to leave, but there's still a lot waiting down below. I went back down, not knowing exactly which way to go. I suddenly found myself in front of a ravine and thought it was the way, but it only led down and no further...but I saw the city.
It took a while to find the trail, and I found myself standing in front of a ravine several times. Completely dehydrated, I finally reached the bottom, bought myself something to drink, and checked out the rest of the trail.
The Theater
And i found Maps...
Ok, lets watch the other things...
Great Temple Complex
Qasr al-Bint
Corinthian Tomb
Urn Tomb
I took a lot of pictures, and I could spend days here, ideally hiking every trail...but you can always come back and do it again. I'm really exhausted, and I'm going back now.
On the trail, they always ask if you'd like to do the trail on a donkey or dromedary, but I always politely declined, saying I have two healthy legs. Riding animals isn't my thing either.
Back at The Treasury, the sun was shining beautifully. A guide showed me the way up and took pictures of me.
So good bye Petra - i will come back in 2021! (Spoiler)
Road back on the...
Kings Highway
And further about the...
Desert Highway
My stomach had settled down nicely thanks to Nidazole and I treated myself to some fast food in Aqaba.
Ahm btw...If you want to book some tours then contact Salamah and follow him.
11th Day: Shukran Lak Jordan
The morning before my flight I drove to the Red Sea, thought about the last days, relaxed for a bit and was grateful for everything.
The people we met here, whether somewhere in the desert or in the middle of Amman, they were all very good to us.
The food and the accommodations were magical. The country of Jordan is simply wonderful and I love it here.
Especially in Dana - A place to die...and I decided at that moment to spend the last day of my life here. I have never been to a place that had such an attraction and a feeling of well-being for me.
