6th Day: Rio Tinto & Sevilla

Updated: Aug 9

This morning we spent relaxed with breakfast and around noon we drove to...

Rio Tinto

By train through the mining villages, ore mines and along the river.

There are no fish to be seen here because the river is very acidic and only bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms live here. The copper and iron levels are very high.

It is so red because of the weathering of sulphide heavy metal minerals.

A few long exposures. Beautiful!

The trip took about 3 hours. Right by the river there was little time to take photos but all in all it was a nice experience. We paid 11€ for the Tour.

So, 1.5 hours later...

Roman amphitheatre of Italica

A bit of nature along the way.

Lantana / Canna / Melaleuca

Step in the arena.

The amphitheater also served as a filming location for the series Game of Thrones. A very large area and there is a lot to see. Admission was free for Europeans. But we are hungry and so we go to the city of Sevilla.

Sevilla

We found a nice small Bistro...

Bar Arenal Ventura

We had: Tortilla Jamon, Lomo Bacon Quesoy, Burguer Queso y, Sangria and Oloroso Sherry.

Sevilla is really very clean and compared to Berlin, for example, there are very big differences.

Very nice streets for shopping and taking photos. Very harmonious.

Later...

Edificio de La Adriática

These historic buildings with the lights are simply beautiful.

We sat down in El Comaito, had: Tonic Water, Copa Aranda, Secreto, Papa Arruga and Magret. In the bar opposite, Arfe 11, they were singing beautifully in Spanish and playing a guitar. It was so loud that the whole street could hear it. There was a nice atmosphere here and with this feeling we went to our accommodation, Hostal & Gasolinera Santiago, in Écija.

El Comaito

We found ourselves standing in front of a locked door at the Hostal & Gasolinera Santiago until we had the idea to ask at the gas station. The gas station was actually connected to it and they gave us the key. Good to know.

Tomorrow we will be in Guadix, among other places.
