12th Day: Ko Yao Yai - a peaceful paradise

Updated: Feb 4

Yes, we left early in the morning to go to Ko Yao Yai for one night.

This island was untouched by tourism at the time. We were really warmly welcomed everywhere, you could see real joy on their faces. It was very flattering and a shame we only planned one night.

With the first step on the pier, you could feel the peacefulness and we immediately felt comfortable.

And of course we took our scooter with us.

Rassada Pier

Our accommodation was very quiet, surrounded by nature and the Loh Had Beach with the beautiful Loh Jak Pier.

Have a bite to eat before the boat tour and exploring the island.

The boat tour, which was led by a very nice family, started not far from the accommodation on the Lo Pa Lai River. There you will also find a small kiosk and the Chillay Restaurant.

A really beautiful river with nature.

In thought...

And yes, there were a few monkeys too. But they were very lively and constantly jumping around. I could hardly take a picture of her...

We still had some time and drove a little further to the left towards the Ban Lo Po Noi Mosque. The nature all around was really great.

At the Rim Lay Seafood Restaurant was a nice view...

We stopped at a field that was very nice for a quick pee. After 20 minutes we saw goats...and wondered what was on the goat.

We ran after them through the bushes, the goats were very fast and unfortunately I couldn't take sharp pictures at that speed. The monkey was obviously transported royally.

In the evening, many restaurants on the street offer something nice to eat.

We found Gu Restaurant very attractive and the Lady-chef was very funny.

We ordered from her and said we didn't want it that spicy. She said she doesn't spice it that much. But somehow it was spicy, not as usual but you had to sweat again while eating...the bubble tea helped a bit. I think that the locals can no longer regulate the spicyness as well as they are used to.

We had fun!

It was night, I had the UV lamp with me and I just had to shine it.
